This disorder typically begins in childhood with a combination of symptoms such as difficulty paying attention, episodes of impulsive behavior, and hyperactivity that can make this condition persists into adulthood. What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?

A psychiatric nurse practitioner is a registered nurse that has an advanced practice degree focused on psychiatric mental health care. They can provide psychiatric care in multiple mental health settings independently depending on the state they live in in the form of psychological assessments, physicals, diagnosis, provide therapy (i.e. meditation, mindfulness training, and or cognitive or dialectal behavioral therapy), and or medication management. We currently provide Telehealthcare.

What is Telehealthcare?

Telehealthcare is mental health care provided through a HIPAA-compliant Telehealth platform. You will be able to visibly see your provider online. Before the start of your visit, you will receive a secure link to log in for your appointment from our team. Please log in 15 minutes before your visit. If you need assistance please contact us at 240-669-7496. Please ensure that you are in a secure and private location for your visit.

What is medication management?

There are a wide array of mental health and emotional conditions that are caused by irregularities in your brain chemistry. This is where medication management can be added to your treatment plan to regulate your brain chemistry.

Is medication management necessary for my condition?

No, but while not always necessary, medication management can be an essential part of your mental health treatment plan. However, there can be some side effects from the medications you are prescribed. If you are prescribed medications you will meet with your provider at DMV Medical Group regularly to discuss and monitor your symptoms and to ensure the dose you are prescribed is helping you achieve mental health stability.

What types of conditions does DMV Medical Group treat?

DMV Medical Group treat a number of conditions. Some treatments can be in the form of medication. There are different types of medications DMV Medical Group prescribes for different mental health conditions,

What insurances does DMV Medical Group accept?

DMV Medical Group currently accepts self-pay and certain plans with Aetna, and Cigna. We will ask you for a credit card to keep on file. Your credit card will be charged for services or co-pays at the time your service is rendered. We plan to become certified to accept other major Maryland insurance payers soon. In the meantime, we can also provide you with a superbill so that you can file each visit with your insurance carrier.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment, you must do so within 48 hours of your appointment time. If you fail to cancel before this deadline, your credit card will be charged a $225 late fee cancellation.

What if I no-show to my scheduled appointment?

Missing an appointment prevents another person from the care they need. If you no-show to an appointment you are subject to a no-show fee of $225. Please make every effort to attend your scheduled appointments.

When will my medications get refilled?

We will obtain your pharmacy of choice on your initial appointment. If a prescription is needed, we will send it to your pharmacy of choice. You will receive enough medications until your next follow-up appointment with us.
